I won a box of these at my very 1st raffle at the Jungle Jim’s International Market Cigar Tasting in Fairfield, OH and I was not disappointed. The flavors you get when smoking this cigar is that of chocolate, roasted coffee, leather and a little bit of spice and pepper. But all the flavors blend so well together and the spice is not overpowering at all. It is not surprising that Cigar Aficionado magazine awarded the Prensado, cigar of the year in 2012.
The Prensado is definitely a special occasion cigar. But when you win a free box, it’s hard not to make up special occasions on a whim, just to have an excuse to spark one of these bad boys up. These cigars can be aged in a humidor, so if you buy a box you can always have a few on deck for any special occasion that may come up. Or if you’re like me, a beautiful sunny day smoking a nice chunk of meat or some nice baby back ribs will suffice.
The cigar itself, is a very pretty looking cigar and you can tell they were rolled with skill. In my entire box of 20, I couldn’t find one with any divots, knots, or soft spots. The band is eye catching, yet classy and it kind of makes you feel like a baller when smoking one. I think for a cigar to be a 5 star cigar it also needs to smell good before, during, and after smoking it, and the Prensado doesn’t disappoint. You get a hint of cedar and coffee from the aroma. And if you like cigars, that’s a mighty fine smell.
I still have a few of these bad boys in my humidor and I look forward to another special occasion, aka starting up the smoker on a nice, warm and sunny day. They are also a great cigar to smoke in the mancave, while watching football with friends. So, if you play fantasy football, treat yourself to a victory cigar, and you might as well make it a Prensado.
